Front-end file uploads for WordPress
Let visitors upload files from any page, post or sidebar widget — into your Media library, or straight to Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive, Amazon S3 or an FTP server.
What it does
A form on any page
One shortcode, or a Gutenberg block. Add your own fields, filter by size, extension or user role, and run several forms in the same post.
Files go where you need
The Media library, a NextGEN gallery, an FTP server or a cloud account. Large files upload in chunks, past the server’s own limit.
You see what arrives
A file browser and activity log in the dashboard, email notifications on upload, and a viewer your logged-in users can see too.
What it looks like
Set-up and reference
- Install the plugin with the WordPress auto-installer, or download the .zip file from wordpress.org and install it from the Plugins section of your Dashboard.Or copy the
wordpress_file_uploaddirectory into thewp-content/pluginsdirectory of your site yourself. - Activate the plugin from the Plugins section of your Dashboard.
- For an upload form, go to Dashboard / Settings / Iptanus File Upload and follow the instructions in Uploader Instances.

- Open the page in your browser and you will see the upload form, or the list of files.
- View what has arrived from the Uploaded Files item in the Dashboard menu.
- Change the upload directory, or any other setting, from the small edit button at the top-left corner of the upload form.It opens the plugin options in a new window. If nothing appears, allow pop-up windows for your site.

The plugin requires to have Javascript enabled in your browser. For Internet Explorer you also need to have Active-X enabled.
Please note that old desktop browsers or mobile browsers may not support all of the above features. In order to get full functionality use the latest versions of browsers, supporting HTML5, AJAX and CSS3.

I’ve been trying to make this work all morning and finally found that you have to escape the around the email like this:
From: Example Email <example@exampledomain.com>

Sorry for the last post. The formatting didn’t render as I intended but you can probably see what I’m trying to say here.
The <> in the email address need to be replaced with < > like the following example:
<example@exampledomain.com>

Hi,
I want to allow any file extension, so I just use the default:
Allowed File Extensions: *.*
Now if I upload a file called:
test.txt
this is working fine. But when I try:
test.fasta
it fails. Why?

Hi Martin, the pattern *.* will not allow all files, but only the most common ones. This is a security feature to protect users, especially novice ones, from allowing hackers uploading dangerous content to their website.
It is strongly recommended to create a white-list of allowed extensions, through the Allowed File Extensions attribute of the plugin, in order to restrict the types of files allowed to only those necessary.

thanks for your fast reply. I totally agree with this, but lets say I define *.fasta as possible file extension. Now users can upload
test.fasta
but
test.new.fasta
will fail.
I suggest there is no way to also allow such files, maybe a hack would be
*.*.fasta?

By default files with more than one dot are rejected. This is another security measure to avoid double extensions. You can deactivate this restriction by going to Advanced tab in plugin’s area in Dashboard, locate option Wildcard Asterisk Mode and set it to loose.

Hey there. Thanks for the plugin! I have one question. Fitmode being set to responsive doesn’t do anything for me. It breaks the page when I resize the browser or open in a smaller window. Any ideas why that might be?
