GDPR, the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation, took effect on 25 May 2018. It changed a great deal about how websites collect, store and handle personal data, giving more control to the people that data is about.
It is a European regulation, but it reaches any website processing the data of people in the EU, wherever that website is run from.
WordPress sites are covered by it, and so are WordPress plugins that handle personal data, which must comply with it.
Version 4.5.0 of WordPress File Upload, released ahead of that date, is GDPR-compliant. A separate article sets out exactly what the plugin does about consent, and about exporting and erasing someone’s data.

Hi,
can we still expect the GDPR compliant 4.5.0 update in time? My website relies heavily on this wonderful plugin so I keep hoping WordPress File Upload will be compliant.
Yes version 4.5.0 has been released and it is GDPR compliant!
Nickolas
