Saturday, 4-November-2017. New version 4.1.0 of WordPress File Upload plugin has just been released.
This is a significant update that incorporates several bug fixes, removal of unnecessary / obsolete plugin files, code improvements and some new features. A lot of code modifications have been performed in order to prepare the ground for plugin extensions, like Google Drive and Amazon S3 uploads, that will be introduced in the next version. Dropbox functionality has been improved in order to better handle failed transfers.
The most important new feature has to do with filename sanitization. By default the plugin converts invalid characters in the filename (like accent and symbols) to dashes (-). Now it will also convert dot symbols (.) to dashes. This way the user will not get an “Upload failed! File not allowed.” message when trying to upload a file containing dots in the filename. Of course this is the default behaviour. The website administrator can change it by changing the plugin’s appropriate attributes and options.
You can check more details in the Release Notes of the plugin’s support page.
Users who have purchased the Professional version of the plugin can download the latest one by logging into their Iptanus account, selecting the order and downloading the new file. Instructions for installing the new version can be found here.
